Which Tires Should You Buy for Your Car?

Before getting a new set of tires, there are a couple of tire attributes a car owner needs to know. This video covers what those are and how a driver can make an excellent tire choice. To begin with, most drivers have to choose between all-season, summer/three-season, and winter tires. All-season tires are designed to be a good middle ground, neither excelling nor failing in any category. They offer decent handling, good grip in wet weather, reasonable ride quality, quiet running, and some snow capability.

Summer tires offer dry and wet weather traction in moderate and warm weather. While they are very grippy, they don’t work so well in temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

Drivers living in icy areas would do well to purchase winter tires, though they should be removed when the weather warms up. Drivers heading to any tires store should consult the car manual or door jamb placard to know what size tire to buy. Tire measurements will look something like this – P225/70R16 97H. The first part’ “P225/70R16”, refers to measurements such as width and diameter. The last part’ “97H”, refers to the tire load index. The H denotes a speed rating of 130mph.
